CSN Mobile App, Resources at Your Fingertips

Did you know you can check your grades on your smartphone? College of Southern Nevada’s mobile application, recently launched to increase connectivity with students, provides quick resources.

“Approximately 55 percent of Americans have smartphones,” says Dr. Darren Divine, CSN vice president of academic affairs, “a figure which is rapidly growing by about 50 percent each year. This is where we must reach our students.”

CSN Mobile app mirrors CSN’s website in phone format. The features include the following: course search and registration on MyCSN, class notes and discussions on the College’s learning management site Canvas, academic and event calendars, campus contact information, and news and social-media connections.

CSN student Liza Guzman sifts through PowerPoint slides and course materials from her instructors on Canvas, which she accesses through the app on her phone. “I can easily look at what’s going on in my classes without having to look at a computer.” The app helps Guzman study and she encourages other students to use it too.

Classes become more assessable to students as they can now receive specific class information in the palm of their hands.

“The home page has a good set up with one page that has everything I need,” says Justin Denny, CSN student. Denny uses the app most when Canvas isn’t working fast enough for him.

Another perk, students can pull out their smartphones or tablets and shop for classes at any time. Easy access is the key. The app even has a feature that allows students to directly call departments they need, just from tapping on the screen of their smartphones. It is a very easy app to navigate through.

The app comes in different languages including English, German and Spanish. It is compatible with all Apple products that have iOS 4.3 or later. It is also available on Android devices, according to iTunes’ website.

To download the app go to www.csn.edu/mobile.
