College of Southern Nevada Career Services is hosting the 2013 Spring Career Fair on March 6. The fair is designed to help students from CSN and other adults explore job-market prospects and secure employment. The job fair provides employers with opportunities to hire applicants.

“No experience needed. We are hiring from entry-level positions,” says Willie Draughon, CaptionCall center manager. Draughon says they are looking for individuals with strong work ethic who are also dependable and can work well on their own.

At this job fair, students can work on developing a good resumé and highlighting skills and accomplishments.

“Students should come dressed for an interview and have resumés on hand,” says Erica O’Toole, career specialist at CSN. “Some employers will be interviewing on the spot, so it is important for [applicants] to make a good impression.”

Nearly 30 employers with various representatives will be participating in the career fair.
Job fairs are used in many ways to test applicants’ social skills. A positive attitude, a professional handshake and proper introductions might lead applicants in the right direction.

“I’m looking for bilingual, enthusiastic persons, and someone who is willing to talk to strangers … not shy, since I’m looking for sales representatives that can introduce my product to customers,” said Benu Stephen, operations coordinator of Retail Business Development.

Axa Aguilar, with Girls Scouts, will be interviewing applicants during the career fair. Aguilar is looking for women ages 18-26 who like the outdoors and enjoy camping.
Career fairs are an excellent opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives of dozens of leading employers all under one roof.

“Success is a science; if you have the conditions, you get the result,” Oscar Wilde said.

Join us at the career fair and make your dream job a reality. The career fair will be held at CSN Cheyenne Campus March 6 in the June Whitley Student Lounge, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave., from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
